Ruta Jusionyte was born in 1978 in Klaipėda, Lithuania, into a family of artists that goes back several generations. A graduate of the Vilnius School of Fine Arts, she has lived in Paris since 2001. For her first exhibition at Le Salon Vert, Ruta Jusionyte presents a group of recent sculptures, ceramics, paintings, and acrylic drawingson paper. Heavily influenced by Lithuanian artistic tradition, Ruta Jusionyte started off creating rather tormented figures in clay, in a form of expressionism. Over the last few years, her work has evolved towards a profound renewal one could place in the magic realism movement.
The title, “Alchimie d'amour”, is a perfect illustration of this transformation, which, like a truly cathartic process, has led to creations that are liberated, joyful, and colorful. With a view to seeking harmony, the themes addressed highlight the inextricable and vital link between humans, plants, and animals through a rereading of European tales and legends, close to symbolism.
