About us
Le Salon Vert was founded by Angela Wollny in 2014 in Carouge, Geneva. Since then, the gallery and its artists have developed significantly. Over time, the exhibitions have traced a unique path that questions the natural world and the idea of narration through works of art. These works employ a mastery of various media and demonstrate an immersive approach to the practice of art. The gallery highlights classical techniques (drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, découpage, sculpture, needlework, etc.) that are reinvented and re-applied within contemporary contexts.
In 2016, Salon Vert was admitted into Geneva’s association of contemporary art galleries (Geneve.Art) as well as the association of art galleries of Carouge (ArtCarouge). Le Salon Vert participates in local events like the Parcours Céramique Carougeois as well as international fairs like Paper Positions in Berlin and Basel and Volta in Basel , and will also be participating in Art Paris 2025.
The gallery and it’s exhibited artists have received numerous Swiss and international prizes, including the Swiss Art Award 2020 (Séverin Guelpa/finalist, Philippe Fretz/finalist), the Kiefer Hablitzel Prize (Joëlle Isoz), the Prix Fondation Alice Bailly (Noémie Doge, Diane Chappalley), the Prix Picker Aparté (Séverin Guelpa), the Jerwood Drawing Prize (Juliette Losq, Sue Williams A’Court), the John Ruskin Prize (Juliette Losq), the Pollock Krasner Artist Grant (HIPKISS), and others.
Work by Salon Vert artists is included in numerous private and institutional collections, including the FMAC/Fond Municipal of the City of Geneva (Qiu Jie, Philippe Fretz, Benoît Billotte), the MUDAC, the Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts in Lausanne (Benoît Billotte), the Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Museum in London (Chris Drury), the Fondation de l’Entreprise Hermès (Stéphane Erouane Dumas), the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (HIPKISS), the Kupferstich Kabinett in Berlin (HIPKISS), the Musée Jenisch in Vevey (Anne Pantillon, Francisco Sepulveda) and the Sammlung Ludwig (Heike Weber). Chris Drury and Heike Weber were invited, within the framework of private and public commissions, to create architectural works.
